What sort of problems are covered by the insurance?
When taking out a VetProtect Total Care Scheme policy, the vet will first assess your pet. Any existing problems will be noted as exclusions on the Insurance Assessment and Quotation, and as such will not be covered. These exclusions may be reviewed after one or two years, and may be removed if the risk of recurrence is judged by the vet to have passed. Please note that the VetProtect Total Care Scheme does not provide any cover related to breeding or mating, nor for any cosmetic procedures.

Apart from these exclusions, the insurance will pay for any medical or surgical investigation and any treatment of injury or illness subsequently recommended by the vet. This includes dental treatment, including routine scale and polishes which are commonly excluded from other insurance policies.

What if my pet needs emergency treatment when my vet is closed?
Out-of-hours emergency treatment is provided for all patients of the Heath Veterinary Group by the Veterinary Emergency Treatment Service, based in Merthyr Road, Cardiff. If you have to go there, the cost of the treatment is invoiced to us and you will pay only the out-of-hours fee. If further follow-up treatment is required from us, you pay only the policy standard excess of £40.

My pet needs to see a Specialist?
If your pet has a particularly difficult problem, we can organise referral to a Specialist for investigations and treatment. This cost is also covered by the Scheme, up to a limit of £3000 per condition, per year; and in such cases, you would only have to pay the first £60.

Can the vet to come to my house?
VetProtect Total Care Scheme does not cover the cost of home visits.
