HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
If you want to register your pet for the VetProtect Total Care Scheme, he/she will first need a health assessment from your vet. We will assess various aspects of health, such as previous problems, weight, age, dental health etc. On the basis of this assessment, your pet will be allocated to one of ten insurance ‘bands’ which determine the monthly payment. Current prices are listed in this table: |
|
(*Insurance Premium Tax is included at a rate of 5%)
An “average” cat or dog will usually fall into bands B, C or D. The monthly fee will be debited from your bank account. Please note: there is a “joining fee” equivalent to one month’s premium for the first pet registered for each client. This is debited along with the first month’s payment. Subsequent pets do not attract a joining fee. How does this compare to other pet insurance? It is very difficult to make comparisons with other pet insurance products, as the VetProtect Total Care Scheme covers the cost of preventive care as well as insuring against the cost of accident and illness. However, the cost of the preventive care (vaccinations, check-ups, flea & worm treatment) for an ‘average’ pet is shown in the table below, so if you want to see the cost of the insurance element of the scheme, subtract the monthly preventive cost from the total cost for your pet.
So, for an ‘average’ band B cat, paying £22.50 per month, the insurance element of the policy is costing £6.84. For an ‘average’ band D dog weighing 25kg, paying £37.00 per month, the insurance element costs about £16.17.
