DOES MY PET NEED VetProtect?

Health Assessments monitor your pet’s general health and condition. Often, the vet can spot early warning signs of impending problems, and treatment can be started in good time. A common example is dental disease, and unlike many other insurance schemes the VetProtect Total Care Scheme covers the cost of any dentistry your vet recommends, (subject to the standard excess).

It's worth remembering that on average, one year of a dog or cat’s life is the equivalent of seven human years - and most of us visit our GP at least every three years!

Annual booster vaccination protects against the major infectious diseases:

  • Parvovirus
  • Leptospirosis

  • Parainfluenza virus.

For cats:

  • Feline calcivirus

Flea control is of paramount importance in our homes with central heating, fitted carpets and double-glazing. Fleas just love the conditions we provide for them, and one flea can lay 2000 eggs in a few weeks! The best way is never to let them get a foot in the door. Your vet is the person to ask for advice, as he/she knows your pets and your circumstances, and will recommend the optimum treatment for you.

Worming doses should be given four times a year, according to the Pet Health Council.

Insurance for illness and injury is extremely worthwhile. It is always distressing if your pet is ill or injured, but with the best of care it can still happen. With the VetProtect Total Care Scheme, all the necessary treatment will be provided. All you have to pay is the first £40 for each illness or accident. There are no claim forms to complete; you don’t have to pay the vet then get the insurance company to reimburse you. You can even be referred to a specialist for a second opinion if your vet believes this is necessary (you pay the first £60 of this cost).

Full details of the VetProtect Total Care Scheme, including Terms of Registration, can be found in your Policy documentation.

Heath Veterinary Group does not offer any form of advice or recommendation regarding veterinary insurance schemes. If you are considering cancelling an existing veterinary insurance policy it is important that you take independent advice.
